Urgent funds needed to reopen schools during Covid-19

Just like so many other children around the world, the students in our village schools are facing an unprecedented time in education due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many nations around the world are working to find the best practices for a safe return to school, and countries in South Asia are no exception.

Recently, governments in South Asia announced a robust list of requirements that each school must pass in order to reopen. This list includes temperature monitoring of every child at the entry point of the school, disinfecting of classrooms daily, handwashing points throughout the school, and face masks must be worn by all students and faculty.

While these requirements are necessary to keep students and faculty safe, the need for supplies is placing a financial burden on our village schools in South Asia. The need for thermometers, disinfectant spray, hand sanitizer/soap, and masks is great. Without these items, our village schools will not be permitted to open.

The estimated initial cost to supply the needed items is about $860, however, masks and disinfectant will cost an estimated monthly cost of $260.

Right now, the need is great. In order to ensure that the students in our village school can return to school, they must have the necessary supplies.
