Reuben Shankar was raised in a Christian home and ministry was part of his life from the time he was a small child. His father was, and is, a prominent leader among Christian churches in Manipur, a state in northeast India.

Reuben is married and has two children. He continues to live in Manipur, where he grew up, and is expanding the work his father began many years ago. He is serving as a pastor, and is burdened for training rural pastors. He has been a translator and coordinator for Hope and Help in the Timothy Leadership Institute that was held in West Bengal, a neighboring state of Manipur during 2008-2010.
